Pilar Siman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Qualified Clinical Supervisor, and Certified Spiritual Director based in Miami, Florida. As the daughter of Salvadoran immigrants and granddaughter of immigrants from the Middle East and Spain, Pilar brings a deep understanding of cultural richness and the unique challenges faced by diverse communities.
Given her background, clinical experience and professional training, she specialize in serving women, first and second-generation immigrants, members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their family members. As a Latina Catholic Woman who is also an LGBTQIA ally, she offers an awareness and sensitivity towards both the gifts and challenges that spiritual directees and social workers with intersecting identities may experience.
Through her practice, Your Story Services, Pilar offers bilingual spiritual direction nationwide and clinical supervision across Florida. With over 14 years of experience as a mental health therapist, Pilar now focuses on supporting individuals and communities through spiritual direction, workshops, and clinical supervision. Her work is rooted in compassion, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to fostering growth and resilience.
Pilar also has a specialty in Sand Tray Therapy. This is an expressive intervention which taps into the subconscious mind by allowing individuals to process their emotions and experiences by creating scenes in a sand tray. Although she originally learned how to use a sand tray in therapy with children, she now uses this technique effectively as a tool in clinical supervision, workshops and spiritual direction.
Pilar holds a Master’s in Social Work from Columbia University, a Bachelor’s in Culture and Politics from Georgetown University, and a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from St. Thomas University. Pilar teaches as Adjunct Faculty at Florida International University’s School of Social Work. She is dedicated to creating a supportive space where individuals can explore their goals, celebrate their strengths, and embark on journeys of growth and self-discovery.
Outside of work, Pilar enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, listening to podcasts, watching stand-up comedy, dancing Zumba, and reading fiction. To inquire about spiritual direction, workshops, or clinical supervision, please contact her or schedule a free discovery call.
